Kazakh Foreign Minister Attends CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Bishkek

Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, attended a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Bishkek on October 12, according to the Ministry’s press service. The meeting focused on pressing issues on the regional and international agenda, as well as the prospects for cooperation among CIS member states. Several important documents were approved during the meeting, including agreements on the establishment of an international center for assessing the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing, the creation of a CIS coordination council in forensic expert activity, and the 2024-2028 interstate program of joint measures to combat crime. These documents will be presented to the heads of state for consideration during the CIS Summit on October 13 in Bishkek. Additionally, the foreign ministers also approved the establishment of the International Russian Language Organization. The next meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council is scheduled to take place in Minsk on April 12, 2024.
