Kazakh Officers Participate in International Military Observers Course in Hungary

Kazakh officers from the Center for Peacekeeping Operations of the Ministry of Defense (KAZCENT) recently took part in the Military Observers international course in Hungary, as reported by the center’s press service on April 27.

During the course, participants had the opportunity to study the basic principles of military observer work, rules of conduct in conflict zones, information gathering and analysis methods, and the fundamentals of international humanitarian law. Major Aibar Aktureev, a seasoned military observer, led the training sessions and shared his expertise on United Nations (UN) peacekeeping activities and mandate tasks.

“The three-week intensive training program includes theoretical classes paired with practical exercises aimed at enhancing observation and reporting skills within the framework of UN peacekeeping operations,” said Major Aktureev.

Major Ilyas Abishev highlighted the course as an excellent opportunity for participants to gain essential knowledge and initial experience in a multinational environment. He emphasized the importance of hands-on training in simulated peacekeeping operations, where servicemen can analyze their actions and make decisions in non-standard situations.

The training brought together 25 participants from 18 countries, including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Ecuador, Egypt, Hungary, Italy, Ivory Coast, Macedonia, Maldives, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Serbia, Slovenia, Tanzania, and the United States. This diverse group of participants reflected the global collaboration and shared commitment to peacekeeping efforts.

Overall, the Military Observers course in Hungary provided a valuable platform for Kazakh officers to enhance their skills, broaden their understanding of peacekeeping operations, and contribute to international peace and security initiatives.
