
Kazakh Scientist Plays Vital Role in Launching Heriot-Watt University Kazakhstan

British university, Heriot-Watt, is set to launch a branch at the Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University in Kazakhstan, offering three undergraduate programs for 100 students each. The Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education has implemented major education reforms to provide students with high-quality education and has embraced partnerships with major foreign universities. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed the opening of branches of at least five major foreign universities by 2025, which includes branches of the UK’s De Montfort University and Heriot-Watt University. The branch at Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University is set to open in September. The academic hub at Heriot-Watt University will offer internships to Kazakh scientists to provide research opportunities, and the university is ready to conduct joint research with Kazakh scientists. Kazakhstan plans to open 12 foreign university branches by 2029, including Michigan State University, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and several German universities.
