Kazakh President Tokayev Meets with Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze to Strengthen Cooperation

ASTANA – Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently held a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Feb. 6 to discuss enhancing political, economic, and regional collaboration between the two nations. The talks focused on bolstering trade, infrastructure, and working together on various multilateral platforms.

The leaders deliberated on ways to further deepen bilateral relations across multiple sectors such as trade, energy, investment, tourism, artificial intelligence, and digitalization. They also addressed critical international matters and regional security concerns, as reported by the Akorda.

Of particular importance was the discussion on increasing cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and improving transit infrastructure along the corridor.

President Tokayev praised Georgia’s remarkable progress in recent years, highlighting the impressive 9.4% economic growth and the results of reforms implemented by the country. He also acknowledged the significant development of Kazakh-Georgian relations, recognizing Georgia as a dependable partner for Kazakhstan in the Caucasus region with strong bonds of friendship and historical ties.

“Kazakhstan and Georgia have been effectively cooperating across various levels, including between parliaments, governments, and state bodies,” remarked President Tokayev.

In response, Prime Minister Kobakhidze expressed appreciation for the warm reception and noted Kazakhstan as one of the first countries he visited after assuming office. He emphasized the importance of strengthening political and economic cooperation and offered support to Kazakhstan’s interests on different platforms, extending an invitation to President Tokayev to visit Georgia.

The meeting between President Tokayev and Prime Minister Kobakhidze underscores the commitment of Kazakhstan and Georgia to enhance their partnership and collaboration for mutual benefits and regional stability.
