Kazakh Prime Minister Urges Advancement of Digital Public Services, Emphasizing Proactive Delivery and Data Security

In a recent government meeting on April 1, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has called for the accelerated development of digital public services in Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of proactive service delivery, enhanced collaboration with the banking sector, and heightened data security measures to ensure a seamless and secure online experience for citizens.

Bektenov highlighted the critical role of public services in the interaction between the state and its citizens, noting the significant progress made since 2020 to simplify and digitalize public services. As a result, Kazakhstan has emerged as one of the top 10 countries globally in terms of digital service delivery.

Moving forward, Kazakhstan is entering a new phase of public service provision, with a focus on a proactive and seamless system that anticipates citizen needs. Bektenov cited examples such as automatic issuance of an Individual Identification Number (IIN) at birth and automatic birth certificate issuance through SMS.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of expanding online service coverage through partnerships with the banking sector. To support this initiative, efforts will be made to improve server infrastructure and ensure high-speed internet access nationwide for full online service accessibility.

In addition to these measures, Bektenov highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal data and enhancing digital security to prevent online fraud. Government agencies have been instructed to integrate information systems into individual data access control services by the end of the year and enforce stricter penalties for violations.

Bektenov underscored the need to modernize the e-gov portal with AI features, implement projects to ensure internet access in remote areas, secure funding for public services in rural post offices, and transition commonly used services from Public Service Centers to an electronic format by the end of the year.

Overall, the Kazakh government is committed to advancing digital public services to better serve its citizens and enhance their online experience through proactive delivery, collaboration with the banking sector, and robust data security measures.
