Kazakhstan Plans to Build Undersea Fiber Optic Communication Line across Caspian Sea

Construction Begins on Fiber Optic Communication Line in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is set to begin the construction of a new fiber optic communication line in 2025, as announced by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The cable line will span 380 kilometers and have a capacity of 400 terabits per second, requiring an investment of over 50 million dollars.

In 2023, Kazakh company Kazakhtelecom and Azerbaijani company AzerTelecom signed an agreement to establish a joint venture named Caspinet B.V. for the implementation of this project. Each party will hold 50% of the shares in the venture. The main route of the fiber optic line will run from the Kazakh city of Aktau to the Azerbaijani city of Siyazan.

This construction project is expected to not only improve communication between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan but also create new opportunities for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Central Asia.

The fiber optic communication line is a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and communication in the region, paving the way for further advancements in technology and infrastructure.
