Kazakhstan to Produce Turkish UAVs and Kamikaze Drones

During the IV International Exhibition of Defense and Aerospace Industry SAHA EXPO 2024 in Istanbul, negotiations took place regarding the production of Turkish tactical unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) and loitering munitions (kamikaze drones) in Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan has reported that Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov held discussions with Baykar Defense CEO Haluk Bayraktar, reaching an agreement on developing a roadmap for localizing production in Kazakhstan.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, talks were also held with Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler and Chairman of the Defense Industry Agency Haluk Görgün. It has been revealed that a line for assembly and maintenance of ANKA unmanned combat aerial vehicles will be set up in Kazakhstan under the subsidiary company Kazakhstan Engineering.

A Memorandum on Military-Technical Cooperation was signed between NC Kazakhstan Engineering JSC and Turkish Aerospace on May 10 in Ankara. This agreement paves the way for long-term cooperation in joint UAV production, technology transfer, and personnel training for maintenance and repair of UAVs for the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

This collaboration marks an important step in the defense industry for Kazakhstan, as it strengthens ties with Turkey and enables the country to enhance its capabilities in UAV production and maintenance. The partnership is expected to bring significant benefits in terms of technology exchange and military preparedness for Kazakhstan.
