Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission Approves 177 International Observers for National Referendum
The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan has approved 177 observers from 30 different countries and four international organizations for the upcoming nuclear power plant referendum on Oct. 6. These observers will play a crucial role in ensuring transparency and fairness during the referendum process.
During a recent meeting of the commission on Oct. 1, CIC member Mukhtar Yerman highlighted the participation of international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the referendum observation process.
In addition to the accredited observers, representatives from the central electoral bodies of 14 countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, have been invited to participate in observing the referendum. This diverse group of observers will ensure that the electoral process is conducted in a free and fair manner.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accredited 200 foreign journalists from 37 countries to cover and observe the national referendum. This international media presence will help to promote transparency and raise awareness about the referendum process.
Overall, the participation of these international observers and journalists demonstrates the commitment of Kazakhstan to conducting a democratic and transparent nuclear power plant referendum.
