Kazakh Singer Adam Becomes Social Media Sensation and Goodwill Ambassador
ASTANA—Kazakh singer Mirkhiday Mirfarukh, known as Adam, has taken the social media world by storm with his hit song “Zhurek” (Heart), amassing over 74 million views on YouTube and inspiring over four million TikTok clips globally. In a recent interview with The Astana Times, Adam discussed his early life, rise to international fame, diverse fan base, upcoming concerts, and new role as a Goodwill Ambassador.
Fans from Central Asia, South Asia, Europe, Latin America, and beyond have embraced “Zhurek” and shown support for the talented artist on various social media platforms.
“This is what I was striving for. I love all my listeners for their activity and feedback. It inspires me to new achievements,” said Adam.
The song initially gained popularity in Ukraine before winning hearts in Russia, China, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and several European countries. Adam penned the song in his hometown of Merki, in the Zhambyl Region, adding to its cultural significance.
As a songwriter, Adam continues to represent Kazakhstan’s rich culture and accomplishments on the global stage.
Recently, Adam was honored as a Goodwill Ambassador by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s project to acknowledge citizens who have made significant contributions to enhancing Kazakhstan’s international reputation. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, presented the award to the singer at a ceremony on June 6.
“This recognition from the state is a significant step, and I am proud to be acknowledged in Kazakhstan. When you are respected and appreciated in your homeland, you carry that same respect abroad. It enhances your presence and performances overseas,” noted Adam.
When discussing his aspirations, Adam emphasized his desire for global recognition for Kazakhstan and its people.
“Many of my listeners have discovered Kazakhstan for the first time through my music. Sometimes, they even mistakenly represent our flag in the comments. I am honored to represent our people and aim to further showcase our country in a positive light,” he expressed.
Born in 1993 in Merki village, Adam’s musical journey began professionally in 2019 despite lacking formal musical training. He shared that music has always been a constant in his life, alongside various job roles. His family, especially his siblings, have been his biggest supporters throughout his career.
Drawing inspiration from his surroundings, mood, and love for horses, Adam revealed that breeding English racehorses in his hometown influences his work and brings him joy.
Currently, the singer is on tour and planning concerts in several Asian countries, including China, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. In April, Adam performed in Ireland, receiving a warm reception in Dublin.
Adam is dedicated to producing new music and music videos, with his latest release, “Wonderful Life,” featuring parts in English to connect with his international audience. He also shared advice for aspiring artists, highlighting the importance of having a dedicated and supportive creative team.
