Kazakhstan’s Life Expectancy Highest Ever at 75+ Years
According to Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova, life expectancy in Kazakhstan has now exceeded 75 years. This significant milestone was shared during a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on July 9.
In a press statement from Akorda, it was revealed that the incidence rates for 21 infections, including COVID-19, have seen a decline since the beginning of 2024. The country continues to focus on vaccination efforts and preventive measures to combat the spread of diseases.
Alnazarova emphasized the importance of improving the quality and accessibility of medical services in Kazakhstan. This includes revising approaches to primary and inpatient care, updating diagnostic and treatment standards, and strengthening the healthcare industry’s human resources.
Efforts are also being made to enhance the procurement system for medicines and medical products, ensuring efficiency and transparency. Modern digital technologies are being developed and implemented to enhance the effectiveness of medical institutions and improve control over the compulsory social health insurance system.
During the meeting, President Tokayev was briefed on strategic plans for healthcare infrastructure development from 2025 to 2030. These plans include the construction of new medical facilities and further enhancements in the quality of medical services. The concept outlines the implementation of 34 anchor projects to create an optimal and effective network of healthcare organizations.
Tokayev emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. He set goals for a qualitative restructuring of the healthcare system, with a focus on patient-centered medical care and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the allocation of funds for medicine provision.
