Kazakhstan’s Meat Exports to Uzbekistan Soar 134-Fold

Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase in its meat exports to Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2022, according to the Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev. Meat exports to Uzbekistan increased from 0.2 thousand to 26.2 thousand tons, while exports to the UAE surged from 0.3 thousand to 2 thousand tons.

The minister attributed this growth to the allocation of 100 billion tenge from the republic’s budget for investment projects, with the creation of 65 dairy farms leading the way. These farms will have a production capacity of 373 thousand tons of milk per year, which will significantly reduce the country’s import dependence from 39% to 11%.

Karashukeyev added that the livestock industry’s investment attractiveness has been maintained due to existing state support measures. Last year, the sector saw a 67% increase in investments compared to 2021, with a total of 117.5 billion tenge invested in 102 projects. The construction of dairy farms accounted for the largest volume of investments, with 36 farms commissioned this year to produce 52.4 thousand tons of milk.

Additionally, seven investment projects for the construction of meat poultry farms were launched, with a total capacity of 41.9 thousand tons of poultry meat per year. These developments will likely further boost the country’s meat exports to other countries in the coming years.
