KazPost Releases Anniversary Postage Stamp for World Nomad Games
ASTANA – KazPost, Kazakhstan’s postal service, has unveiled a special postage stamp to commemorate the fifth World Nomad Games (WNG). The stamp is designed to capture the essence and cultural significance of this unique sporting event.
The cancellation ceremony for the postage stamp took place on Aug. 27, with Nail Nurov, head of the Directorate for the Preparation and Holding of the World Nomad Games, and Assel Zhanassova, KazPost CEO, in attendance. Nurov highlighted the cultural importance of the event, stating that the World Nomad Games serve as a link to tradition and heritage.
“The World Nomad Games are more than just a competition; they represent our cultural roots and heritage. This anniversary postage stamp serves as a symbol of pride in our past and a commitment to preserving it for future generations. We are pleased to see how this initiative brings people together and inspires the preservation and growth of nomadic cultural traditions,” Nurov remarked.
Zhanassova added that the anniversary postage stamp is a gesture of respect towards cultural heritage and a meaningful contribution to the preservation and promotion of nomadic traditions. The stamp, created by Serik Buksikov, head of the Marketing Department of the World Nomad Games Directorate, features an image of a berkutchi (eagle hunter), a symbol of strength and loyalty to tradition.
The central element of the stamp is a corrugated circle, representing the cycle of life and the interconnectedness of time and space, as envisioned by nomadic philosophy. With a face value of 500 tenge (US$1), the stamp is limited to 5,000 copies and includes UV protection and gold foil printing for durability.
The release of this special postage stamp celebrates the rich cultural heritage of nomadic peoples and pays tribute to the ongoing legacy of the World Nomad Games.
