Keeping KTFF Above Politics: BRTK’s Approach
Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, the Personal Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General on Cyprus, recently paid a visit to the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation (KTFF).
During her visit, Mayor Hasan Sertoğlu emphasized the importance of keeping sports, particularly football, above politics. He stressed the need to support young people and work towards lifting the isolation that has been imposed on them. Sertoğlu highlighted the significance of unity and peace-building through sports, especially in a country where football holds a special place in the hearts of its people.
He also mentioned that KTFF is the largest non-governmental organization in the country, showcasing the passion and dedication of everyone involved in the sport. Sertoğlu called for the unifying power of sports to be utilized as part of confidence-building measures on the island.
