
Ken-Sai Border Crossing Reopens – Travelers Can Now Pass Through

Bishkek – 17:30, 12 September 2024 – The Ken-Sai – Avtodorozhny checkpoint, located in the Kyzyl-Tuu village of the Nooken district in the Jalal-Abad region on the Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan border, has resumed its operations, as reported by the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan.
This checkpoint holds the status of a multilateral (international) checkpoint with a 24-hour operating mode, allowing citizens and vehicles to cross the state border, along with the movement of goods, goods, and animals.
After being closed in 2009, the decision to reopen the Ken-Sai – Avtodorozhny checkpoint was made by the governments of Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan to strengthen economic, trade, cultural ties, and develop border areas.
With a technical throughput capacity of over 11,000 people and 300 vehicles per day, it is set to become the second largest checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek section of the border for the movement of goods and cargo. Built from scratch according to international standards, the checkpoint is equipped with necessary technical means.
Furthermore, the checkpoint is connected to the monitoring center of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security, enabling online monitoring of military personnel activities and checkpoint situations.
As of September 12, the following checkpoints are operating on the Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan section of the state border: Madaniyat – Avtodorozhny, Baimak – Avtodorozhny, Bek-Abad – Avtodorozhny, Ken-Sai – Avtodorozhny (Jalal-Abad region); Dostuk- Avtodorozhny, Kara-Suu – Avtodorozhny, Kara-Bagysh – Avtodorozhny (Osh region); Kyzyl-Kiya – Avtodorozhny, Kadamdzhai – Avtodorozhny, Kaitpas – Avtodorozhny, Ak-Kiya – Avtodorozhny, Otukchu – Avtodorozhny, Chechme – Avtodorozhny (Batken region).
