Key Witness in Necip Hablemitoğlu Assassination Case Recalls Hearing Gunshots During Match – Breaking News in Turkey
Ankara University Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Witnesses were heard in the case relating to the murder of Necip Hablemitoğlu in front of his house in Çankaya, Ankara. The trial involved 10 defendants, including Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) leader Fetullah Gülen and retired colonel Levent Göktaş.
During the hearing at Ankara 28th High Criminal Court, defendants Levent Göktaş, Aydın Köstem, Mehmet Narin, Fikret Emek, Nuri Gökhan Bozkır, Ahmet Tarkan Mumcuoğlu, and Enver Altaylı were present. The witnesses were heard after the Presiding Judge read through the case file.
One of the witnesses, journalist Abdurrahman Şimşek, mentioned that he had met one of the defendants, Bozkır, in Kiev for news-related purposes. He stated that he did not know the other defendants involved in the case.
Another witness, Türkay Güngör, who lived on the same street as Hablemitoğlu at the time of the incident, recalled hearing two gunshots while watching a football match on TV. He mentioned seeing a medium-sized man entering a vehicle in the dark through his window after the shots were fired. Güngör later went to the police station to provide a statement after learning about the assassination on news channels.
The hearing is set to continue tomorrow as more testimonies and evidence are presented in the case.
