CHP Leader and the Istanbul Mayor to Meet Amid Calls for Change
The leader of Turkey’s main opposition party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is set to meet with the Istanbul Mayor, Ekrem İmamoğlu on Tuesday. The meeting will be held amid calls for change in the country and speculation about İmamoğlu’s future political plans.
The Istanbul Mayor, who ran on the platform of “change” during his election campaign, has been the subject of intense political discussions in recent weeks. Some political commentators have suggested that he could be considering a run for the presidency in the upcoming elections.
Before the meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu spoke at the group meeting, where he emphasized the importance of preparing for the future. “As a chairman, I think and have to think about my party’s long-targeted approach, not just its present and near future,” Kılıçdaroğlu said. He added that his mission was to lead the party to its port safely.
It remains to be seen what the two politicians will discuss during their meeting tomorrow. However, the meeting will undoubtedly be closely watched by political observers as it comes at a time when there are growing calls for change in Turkey.
