Kocaeli City Hospital Tram Opening on March 17th – Latest News from Turkey
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Turkey is making significant progress in the development of urban rail systems across the country. According to Minister Uraloğlu, rail systems such as metro and tram are considered one of the easiest and fastest ways of transportation, especially in metropolitan cities.
In a recent statement, Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of investing in the rail system network to improve transportation and prevent traffic nightmares in metropolitan areas. He also highlighted the completion of an important urban rail system project that aims to reduce transportation time to Kocaeli City Hospital to just 15 minutes.
The City Hospital Tram Line, which includes five stations and covers a distance of 3.1 kilometers, is set to be operational by March 17. The line is expected to carry 210 thousand citizens per day and will provide a convenient transportation option to the hospital. Minister Uraloğlu praised the efficiency of the project, mentioning the completion of various construction works including the production of rails, concrete, iron, stone walls, and electromechanical equipment in a relatively short period of time.
The Ministry is dedicated to continuing the urban rail system project, which aims to cover a total of 416 kilometers across Turkey. Construction work is ongoing for a 7-kilometer rail system line in Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Bursa, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure in major cities.
