Konya Ring Road Second Section Opened, Travel Time Reduced from 49 to 17 Minutes – President Erdoğan
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently spoke at the “Konya Ring Road 2nd Section Opening Ceremony,” where he highlighted the significant investments made in Konya’s transportation infrastructure. With a public investment of 146.7 billion liras in transportation in Konya to date, Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the Konya Ring Road, which spans 122 kilometers.
The opening of the 2nd Section of the Konya Ring Road has reduced travel time from 49 minutes to just 17 minutes. Erdoğan noted that this improvement will result in substantial annual savings of 6 billion liras, including 4.6 billion liras from time saved and 1.4 billion liras from fuel savings.
The President also highlighted ongoing highway projects in Konya, aiming to enhance the region’s connectivity and economic development. The Konya Ring Road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in key tourism and trade centers, while also contributing to the city’s economic, social, and commercial growth.
The 2nd Section of the Konya Ring Road features 3 bridges, 3 interchanges, 1 viaduct, 18 underpasses, and 57 culverts. The completion of this section has not only improved transportation efficiency but also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions by 84,400 tons.
