Korean KOMEA to Partner with Turkmenistan in Shipbuilding and Projects

Korean Marine Equipment Association Offers Technological Partnership with Turkmenistan

The Korean Marine Equipment Association (KOMEA) announced its readiness to partner with Turkmenistan in the development of the international transport corridor “North —South”. The announcement was made during the “International Transport and Transit Corridors: interconnection and development — 2023” conference in Turkmenistan.

KOMEA’s proposal includes cooperation in the construction of a small vessel for the transportation of liquefied natural gas, called “Volgo-don max”, using the latest marine solutions from Korean manufacturers. In addition, KOMEA suggested that Turkmenistan should become part of ODA, or Official Development Assistance, which involves the allocation of appropriate grants for the implementation of industrial projects.

The partnership between Korea and Turkmenistan further includes the modernization of the Turkmen shipyard, joint design of ships, and transfer of ship repair technologies. With these initiatives, it is expected to promote industrial development in Turkmenistan and create more opportunities to boost its economy.

The proposal from KOMEA is a welcome development for Turkmenistan as it seeks to establish itself as a reliable partner in the international transport corridor. The country’s strategic location and promising investment opportunities make it an attractive partner for foreign investors, including Korea. With this partnership, both countries can benefit from shared expertise and resources, and advance their shared interests in the development of the international transport corridor.
