KTOEÖS Plans Strike at 13 Schools Tomorrow Afternoon

The Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) has announced that they will be going on strike in 13 schools tomorrow afternoon. According to the union, the strike is in response to the sudden transition from “half-day” to “full-day” education without proper preparation and organization. Additionally, they argue that no safety measures have been taken in schools that are at risk of earthquakes.

The statement was made by Selma Eylem, the president of KTOEÖS, who also mentioned that a formal announcement will be made tomorrow at 10:30 am at Canbulat Freedom Secondary School.

The schools where the strike will take place tomorrow afternoon are as follows: Bekirpaşa High School, Değirmenlik High School, Doktor Fazıl Küçük Industrial Vocational High School, Erenköy High School, Kurtuluş High School, Lapta Yavuzlar High School, Lefke Gazi High School, Mehmetçik Secondary School, Namık Kemal High School, Osman Nejat Konuk Secondary School, Polatpaşa High School, Şehit Turgut Secondary School, and Şehit Zeka Çorba Secondary School.

This strike highlights the concerns of teachers and their demand for better working conditions and safety measures in schools. The union aims to draw attention to these issues and bring about positive changes for educators and students alike.
