Kumtor Representative Embarks on Swim Across Issyk-Kul Lake
Bishkek – On August 12, 2024, Baktybek Turusbekov, a member of the Board of Directors of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, participated in the annual Issyk-Kul Swim Challenge 2024. The company reported that Turusbekov swam a distance of 14 kilometers and dedicated his participation in the swim to the Kyrgyz athletes who competed in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, as well as to the Independence Day of the republic.
The swim route stretched from the southern to the northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake, with a control time of 7 hours for all participants, including both amateurs and professional swimmers.
Kumtor Gold Company highlighted Turusbekov’s experience as a swimmer, noting that he has previously taken part in open water competitions. Last year, he emerged victorious in the 13 Bridges marathon in his age category, covering a distance of 27 kilometers along the Neva River in St. Petersburg.
Overall, Turusbekov’s participation in the Issyk-Kul Swim Challenge 2024 showcased his dedication to both sports and his country, as he braved the waters to support his fellow athletes and celebrate Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day.
