Kung Fu Panda 4 Dominates Box Office Over Dune 2

The highly anticipated “Kung Fu Panda 4” has taken over the number one spot at the American box office, pushing “Dune: Part Two” down to second place. The latest installment in the beloved animated series grossed an impressive $19.4 million on its opening day, marking the strongest debut for the franchise since the original film in 2008.

“Dune: Part Two”, which had debuted in first place the previous week, saw a 47% drop in its second weekend and earned $46 million, landing it in the second position. Despite the dip, the sequel has already surpassed the first film’s U.S. gross and is on track to reach $150 million by the end of the week.

In third place at the box office is the new horror film “Imaginary” from Blumhouse, which brought in $10 million in its opening weekend. With a modest budget of $12 million, the movie’s debut is considered a success.

Angel Studios, known for last year’s hit “Sound of Freedom,” returned to theaters with “Cabrini” and secured the fourth spot with a weekend total of $7.6 million. The religious-themed film, directed by Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, continues the studio’s streak of box office success.

Rounding out the top five is Paramount Pictures’ “Bob Marley: One Love,” which earned $4.1 million over the weekend. Following a strong debut on Valentine’s Day, the film is expected to soon cross the $90 million mark in total earnings.
