Kyrgyz Companies Partner with Agriculture Ministry for Cooperation
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – On February 1, 2025, during the agro-industrial forum AgroDialogue 2025 in Bishkek, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, signed three significant memorandums with leading industry associations.
The agreements aim to boost organic farming, support farmers, and enhance the export potential of the agricultural sector, as reported by the ministry’s press service.
The memorandum with Kyrgyz Organic Product ALE (Fruits and Berries agrocluster) includes plans for the development of horticulture through the introduction of innovative technologies, the establishment of variety testing laboratories, and participation in international scientific events to enhance product quality. It also involves providing support to farmers, gardeners, and women entrepreneurs in rural areas, creating new job opportunities.
The agreement with the Organic Holding KG Association ALE focuses on promoting organic agriculture to ensure the sustainable development of rural and mountain communities. This entails training farmers in organic methods, reducing chemical usage, and increasing the profitability of small farms.
Additionally, Aiyl Bank OJSC has committed to offering preferential loans at 8 percent per annum for ten years to enterprises involved in the processing, wholesale, and retail trade of agricultural products.
Minister Bakyt Torobaev expressed his optimism about the signed agreements, stating that they will act as a catalyst for the transformation of the agricultural sector. He emphasized the importance of increasing the export of fruit and berries, while also making agriculture more sustainable and socially oriented. Torobaev highlighted that organics and accessible financing are crucial for maintaining competitiveness in global markets.
