Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov calls for dissolution of anti-corruption public organizations
Bishkek – On December 21, 2024, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan made a bold statement during the third People’s Kurultai, calling for the immediate closure of public organizations that claim to be fighting corruption. This demand came after a delegate, Anarkan Aidarov from Kara-Suu district, mentioned leading such an organization during the event.
President Japarov expressed skepticism towards these organizations, accusing them of using their official IDs for personal gain. He pointed out that these committees have been in operation since the 2005 coup that led to the ousting of former President Akayev. The President emphasized that there are already governmental bodies in place to address corruption issues and urged individuals to report any instances of corruption directly to these authorities.
As a result of his directive, President Japarov instructed the Ministry of Justice to take action against these organizations, signaling a crackdown on groups that he believes are exploiting their positions for personal interests. The President’s firm stance on combating corruption highlights his commitment to upholding transparency and accountability within the country.
The call for the dissolution of these public organizations marks a significant step in President Japarov’s efforts to root out corruption and uphold the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan. It remains to be seen how these measures will be implemented and what impact they will have on the fight against corruption in the country.
