Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Enhances Support for Detained Citizen in Turkey
Bishkek, 30 April 2025 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic is intensifying its efforts to provide consular and legal assistance to Azamat Nurmatov, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan detained in Turkey. A video conference held on April 29 involved Nurmatov’s family, his legal representative, and officials from the Consulate General in Istanbul.
During the conference, the lawyer updated the Ministry on the legal steps being pursued to safeguard Nurmatov’s rights and interests. This underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the protection of its citizens abroad.
Furthermore, consulate staff recently visited Maltepe prison, engaging in discussions with its administration to facilitate a phone call between Nurmatov and his family. This communication is expected to occur soon, providing a vital connection for the detained individual.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the case, emphasizing its importance as part of Kyrgyzstan’s diplomatic mission.
