Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan aim to boost trade turnover to billion
Bishkek – On May 24, 2024, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov during the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS countries in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, Akylbek Japarov highlighted the active interaction in Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations since the beginning of the year. He mentioned the successful negotiations and visits that have taken place to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
In order to achieve the goals set by the heads of state, both parties agreed to make maximum efforts to timely implement investment and other projects on the agenda between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized the importance of the trade and economic aspect in the relations between the two countries. He mentioned the goal of increasing the trade turnover to $3 billion and stressed the need to maintain a positive trajectory in this regard.
Towards the end of the meeting, Akylbek Japarov invited Olzhas Bektenov to participate in the International Energy Investment Forum scheduled to take place on June 10-11 in Vienna with the support of the World Bank and the government of Austria.
Both parties expressed confidence in the further progressive development of the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, emphasizing the spirit of strategic cooperation and alliance moving forward.
