Kyrgyzstan and Russia Collaborate on Climate Agenda Progression
The Russian-Kyrgyz working group on climate issues holds its first meeting in Moscow
The Russian-Kyrgyz working group on climate issues recently held its first meeting in Moscow, with the aim of discussing key stages in the development of the climate agenda of both states. The Russian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach, met with the Kyrgyz delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision Mirslav Amankulov.
During the meeting, Dmitry Volvach highlighted the strong partnership between Russia and the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasizing the ongoing joint projects in the field of green energy. He also mentioned the effective cooperation between the two countries on a multilateral level, particularly within the Eurasian Economic Commission, where practical tasks related to combating climate change are addressed.
The parties reviewed action plans for increasing energy efficiency and stressed the importance of utilizing new technologies and developing monitoring systems to effectively combat climate change. Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, encouraged the Kyrgyz delegation to formulate requests for cooperation in the field of climate change and to learn from Russian practices.
Bermet Omurova, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, expressed interest in collaborating with Russian experts to enhance competencies and implement measures to improve energy efficiency, particularly in sectors of the economy.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to create a list of promising areas for bilateral partnership, with the goal of closer and targeted practical interaction in the future. The meeting highlighted the commitment of both countries to cooperating on climate issues and implementing sustainable solutions to combat climate change.
