Finance Ministry Experts Discuss Green Procurement in Kyrgyzstan
On April 18, 2025, experts from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation presented a detailed report on measures to stimulate public green procurement around the world and the potential for implementing these measures in the Kyrgyz Republic. The press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic reported on the findings of a seminar held on the topic.
During the discussion, participants explored various strategies to enhance the policy and regulatory framework for green financing. Of particular interest were approaches to promoting public green procurement, which included financial, organizational, procedural, and reputational support measures such as assessing and selecting the best suppliers through awards or competitions.
Omurbek Sabirov, the Director of the Department of Public Procurement (DPP) under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the official portal of public procurement in the country and update relevant legislation.
It was also noted that a bilateral cooperation program between the Ministries of Finance of Kyrgyzstan and the Russian Federation has been approved, further indicating a commitment to collaboration on green procurement initiatives.
The exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two countries is expected to contribute to the promotion of sustainable practices and the adoption of environmentally-friendly procurement processes in Kyrgyzstan.
