Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan Increase Trade Turnover by 36 Percent
In a positive development for the economic relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 36 percent compared to last year. This information comes from a report by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, as reported by a news portal in Turkmenistan.
The report highlights the significant growth in trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. From January to April 2024, the foreign trade turnover between the two countries reached $20 million, marking a 36 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Moreover, there are expectations for the launch of a new transport route that will pass through Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, providing access to the Caspian Sea and connecting to Russia and other countries. This new route is expected to facilitate the transportation of goods between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Akylbek Japarov, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, has expressed optimism about the prospects of this new transport route. He emphasized the importance of developing an international multimodal route for cargo delivery that utilizes sea ferry services on the Caspian Sea.
Overall, the anticipated launch of this new transport route is seen as a positive step towards fostering greater economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. It is hoped that this initiative will not only boost trade turnover between the two countries but also facilitate smoother and more efficient cargo delivery processes.
