Kyrgyzstan Boosts Gas Imports from Russia According to National Statistical Committee

Bishkek, January 3, 2025 – According to information from the National Statistical Committee, Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased its natural gas imports from Russia in the past year.

From January to October 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 421.4 million cubic meters of natural gas, with over 97% of the supply coming from Russia. The country spent $63.2 million on these imports, representing a significant increase compared to the previous year when 307 million cubic meters were imported.

In addition to Russian imports, Uzbekistan also supplied Kyrgyzstan with 11.434 million cubic meters of natural gas during the same period.

This increase in natural gas imports highlights the reliance of Kyrgyzstan on external sources for its energy needs. The country will need to closely monitor and manage its energy imports to ensure a stable and sustainable supply in the future.
