Kyrgyzstan Government Securities Receive International Codes
Kyrgyzstan Introduces International Identification Codes for Government Treasury Bonds
In a move to attract foreign investors, Kyrgyzstan has received International Securities Identification Numbers (ISIN) and Classification of Financial Instruments (CFI) codes for its two-year government treasury bonds for the first time. This announcement was made by the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange.
The ISIN is a 12-bit alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a security, while the CFI code is a six-digit alphabetic code that contains basic information about a financial instrument.
According to the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange, the ISIN codes for the government treasury bonds are as follows:
– KG000A3LSC78 for the bonds denominated in soms
– KG000A3LSJ06 for the bonds denominated in rubles
The structure of the ISIN code is determined by the ISO 6166 standard, with the first two characters representing the issuer’s country code according to the ISO 3166-1 standard. In the case of Kyrgyzstan, the ISIN codes begin with the letters “KG”.
The introduction of these international identification codes is seen as a positive step towards increasing transparency and accessibility for foreign investors who are interested in Kyrgyz government bonds. It is expected that the availability of ISIN and CFI codes will make it easier for foreign investors to participate in Kyrgyzstan’s bond market, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Overall, the issuance of ISIN and CFI codes for Kyrgyz government treasury bonds reflects the government’s commitment to opening up its financial markets to international investors and strengthening its position in the global financial ecosystem.
