Kyrgyzstan Labor Ministry Plans to Boost Unemployment Benefits
The Ministry of Labor of Kyrgyzstan is planning to increase the size of the monthly ui-bulogo komok allowance for children under 16 years old from low-income families. A draft resolution has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for public discussion.
Currently, the monthly allowance stands at 1,200 soms per child. However, the Ministry of Social Security and Migration is proposing a 25 percent increase, bringing the allowance up to 1,500 soms starting from October 1, 2024.
This increase is aimed at providing temporary support to children from low-income families until they can overcome their difficult life situations. The National Development Program supports this initiative, with funding coming from the budget of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration.
As of September 1, over 263,000 children from 76,000 families are receiving the allowance. Additionally, people living in areas with regional coefficients will receive the allowance adjusted for their specific circumstances.
If the draft resolution is implemented from October to December 2024, it is estimated to require 1,347.4 billion soms in funding. This increase in the allowance will not only provide much-needed support to vulnerable children and families but also contribute to their well-being and development.
