Kyrgyzstan Maintains Lead in EAEU for Cargo and Passenger Transport Growth
The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has reported a growth in freight and passenger transportation within the EAEU countries. According to the EEC, from January to October 2024, there was an increase in both total passenger turnover and various national indicators in the EAEU member states.
Compared to the same period in the previous year, there was a 7.4 percent increase in total passenger turnover in the EAEU. Specifically, Kazakhstan saw a 13.7 percent increase, Belarus 9.2 percent, Russia 6.7 percent, and Kyrgyzstan 5.9 percent.
Additionally, there was an increase in cargo transportation during this period in Kyrgyzstan (5.5 percent), Belarus (2.3 percent), and Kazakhstan (1.6 percent). Earlier reports from the EEC indicated that the aggregate level of freight traffic in the Union increased by 0.5 percent, with Kyrgyzstan showing significant growth at 6.2 percent.
These statistics demonstrate the continuous growth and development of transportation infrastructure and services within the EAEU countries. The EEC’s findings highlight the importance of efficient and effective transportation networks in promoting economic growth and connectivity within the region.
