Kyrgyzstan receives EEC tariff privileges for seed potato imports

The Eurasian Economic Commission Grants Tariff Privileges for Import of Seed Potatoes to Kyrgyzstan and Armenia

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved tariff privileges for the import of seed potatoes to Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. The decision includes an exemption from import customs duties for seed potatoes imported in 2025 into the Republic of Armenia (up to 3,500 tons) and the Kyrgyz Republic (up to 1,790 tons).

According to the EEC, these measures aim to ensure the availability of quality planting material, sustainable yields, and increased self-sufficiency in the domestic market for potatoes. Vaagn Kazaryan, Director of the Department of Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, emphasized the importance of these measures for the agricultural sector.

To benefit from the tariff privileges, importers must obtain confirmation from the authorized executive body. The imported seed potatoes are intended for use exclusively within the territory of each country.

These tariff privileges are expected to support the agriculture sector in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia by providing access to high-quality planting material and promoting self-sufficiency in potato production.
