Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Requests Easing of Restrictions on Heavy Truck Movement across China
During a recent meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Nurlanbek Shakiev, Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, requested the lifting of certain restrictions on the movement of heavy trucks from Kyrgyzstan across China. The discussion took place as part of efforts to enhance transportation links between the two countries.
According to the Parliament’s press service, Chairman Zhao Leji acknowledged the request and instructed relevant officials to look into the issue of heavy trucks. He also expressed willingness to assist in finding a positive resolution.
Shakiev highlighted the significance of an important agreement signed this year for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. He emphasized the project’s potential benefits for regional connectivity and trade, urging for its swift implementation.
Chairman Zhao Leji recognized the importance of the proposals and opinions shared during the meeting. He emphasized the need for innovative approaches in furthering relations between China and Central Asian countries, emphasizing the strategic partnership with Kyrgyz Republic.
He expressed China’s commitment to promoting trade relations, facilitating the export of Kyrgyz agricultural products, and exploring opportunities for scientific and technical cooperation. Zhao Leji underscored the potential for collaboration in utilizing new energy sources, advancing mechanical engineering, and embracing modern technologies.
