Kyrgyzstan Welcomes 6.1 Million Tourists in 2024
Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic – The Tourism Department under the Ministry of Economy in Kyrgyzstan has reported positive growth in the tourism sector since the beginning of the year.
At a meeting of the National Travel Development Council in Bishkek, Director Maksat Usubaliev shared that the number of registered entities related to the tourism sector has increased to 135,800 units in the first half of 2024. This marks a significant increase from 123,100 in the same period of 2023.
Furthermore, Usubaliev highlighted that in the first eight months of this year, 6.143 million foreigners arrived in Kyrgyzstan through border checkpoints. This number represents a decrease from the 8.5 million people who visited the country in the prior year.
Statistics from the National Statistical Committee show a significant increase in the number of people visiting Kyrgyzstan in 2023, reaching 2.8 million people. This marks almost a 1.5 times increase compared to the previous year.
Overall, the data indicates a positive trend in the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan, with continued growth and an increasing number of visitors to the country. The efforts of the Tourism Department and other stakeholders are contributing to the development and promotion of tourism in the region.
