Kyrgyzstani Arrested for Sharing Hizb ut-Tahrir Materials

A suspect has been detained in the Chui region of Kyrgyzstan for distributing materials from the banned religious extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. The Main Internal Affairs Department of the region reported that a Facebook user was distributing materials and calling for the caliphate of the international organization, which is banned in Kyrgyzstan.

The incident was reported to the Department of Internal Affairs of Sokuluk district, and a criminal case has been initiated under Article 332 “Production and distribution of extremist materials” of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The suspect, a 52-year-old citizen with a history of similar crimes, has been identified and detained. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility while the investigation continues.
