
Kyrgyzstani National Detained for Planning Terrorist Attack in Europe

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), in collaboration with international partners, successfully thwarted a terrorist plot orchestrated by members of an international terrorist organization (ITO) in a European country. The SCNS press center confirmed this significant achievement.
It was revealed that one of the suspected individuals involved in the planned attack was a Kyrgyz citizen who had been residing abroad. He was apprehended and extradited to Kyrgyzstan as part of a criminal investigation initiated under Article 256, which pertains to the participation of Kyrgyz nationals in armed conflicts or training for terrorist activities in foreign territories.
The detained suspect is currently held in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS as the legal proceedings progress.
On May 29, a series of searches were conducted in Tokmak city, Chui region, at 17 locations associated with the detained individual. During the search operation, extremist literature linked to the Islamic State terrorist organization, electronic devices, narcotics, ammunition, and 28 pieces of cryptocurrency mining equipment were seized for further analysis.
Furthermore, a 53-year-old man was arrested on drug-related charges following the discovery of narcotics during the search. He has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS pending further investigation.
The SCNS is continuing its investigative efforts to ensure the safety and security of the country and its citizens.
