Car Accident in St. Petersburg Leaves Kyrgyz Student in Serious Condition
On October 16, 2024, a tragic car accident occurred in St. Petersburg, Russia, involving a 17-year-old student from Kyrgyzstan. The incident took place on Dvortsovaya (Palace) Embankment, where the young girl was hit by a vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was rushed to the hospital and is currently in a coma in the intensive care unit.
According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region, a criminal case has been opened against the driver responsible for the accident. It has been revealed that the driver, a 65-year-old man, had already been fined five times in 2024 for violating traffic rules.
State Traffic Inspectorate officers determined that the driver, operating a Skoda Rapid, struck the girl as she was crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The case has been filed under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, relating to the violation of traffic rules resulting in serious bodily harm.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and are working to ensure justice is served for the victim and her family. Our thoughts are with the injured student and her loved ones during this difficult time.
