Kyrgyzstani Askar Kubanychbek Uulu Released from Prison with Probation
In a recent decision by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstani citizen Askar Kubanychbek uulu has been released from serving his sentence with probation supervision for three years. Kubanychbek uulu was previously convicted for participating in the war in Ukraine and was serving a seven-year imprisonment.
The court reviewed the case and released Kubanychbek uulu on probation under Article 82 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, changing the measure of restraint to a written undertaking not to leave until the court verdict comes into force.
The 31-year-old native of At-Bashy district was found guilty of participating in mercenary activities in Ukraine without the permission of the relevant government authorities. Earlier, there were reports that he was supported in Russia, and he has been seeking Russian citizenship.
It was also reported that the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation has prepared an initiative to prevent the extradition of participants in hostilities to countries where they face criminal liability. As a result, Askar Kubanychbek uulu has expressed his desire to be granted Russian citizenship.
This decision has sparked discussions about the involvement of citizens in conflicts abroad and the consequences they face. It remains to be seen how this case will impact future similar situations and international relations.
