Kyrgyzstani Woman Arrested in Moscow, Child Sent to Orphanage
Bishkek – 05 July 2024
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has provided insights into the recent detention of a Kyrgyz woman in Moscow and the subsequent placement of her 18-month-old child in an orphanage.
Reports surfaced earlier that a 47-year-old Kyrgyz citizen was arrested in Moscow for allegedly harboring compatriot migrants in her apartment. She was charged with “Organization of illegal migration.” The Russian authorities mentioned that the child could be reunited with the father if proper documentation, including marriage and birth certificates, were presented. However, the father had already been deported earlier this year.
On June 28, officials from the Kyrgyz embassy visited the Investigation Department for Tushino district in Moscow and met with a senior investigator. It was revealed that the investigative procedures in the criminal case had been concluded, and the case files were forwarded to the court.
Collaborating with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, the embassy diligently worked on facilitating the transfer of the child to relatives for eventual journey back to Kyrgyzstan and reunification with the father.
Fortunately, the child is now in Kyrgyzstan with his father, marking a positive development in this complex situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the embassy are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the well-being and proper handling of the matter.
