Kyrgyzstanis urged to conserve electricity during hydropower repairs
On February 28, 2025, the 24.kg news agency reported that the electricity generation in Kyrgyzstan’s power system has decreased due to the start of reconstruction of unit No. 3 at Toktogul Hydropower Plant (HPP).
As of now, only three out of four hydropower units are operational at the Toktogul HPP. This decrease in electricity generation has prompted power sector specialists to urge citizens and businesses to use electricity rationally in order to reduce the load on the power system.
The Bishkek PES has advised people to be mindful of their electricity usage during this period of reconstruction in order to ensure a stable power supply for all consumers in Kyrgyzstan. It is important for everyone to do their part in conserving energy and using electricity efficiently during this time.
