Kyrgyz Wrestler Aiperi Medet kyzy Tops UWW World Ranking for 2024
Kyrgyzstani wrestler Aiperi Medet kyzy has achieved a remarkable feat by topping the United World Wrestling (UWW) world ranking for 2024. The talented athlete participated in four tournaments throughout the year, emerging victorious in three of them – the Asian Championship, Zagreb Open, and Yasar Dogu.
With an impressive 46,000 points, Aiperi Medet kyzy secured the coveted first place in the final UWW ranking. The runner-up in the ranking is Alexis Kennedy Blades from the USA, trailing behind with 800 points less. Yuka Kagami from Japan occupies the third spot in the ranking.
Other Kyrgyz wrestlers also made their mark in the UWW ranking, with Aisuluu Tynybekova securing third place in the 62-kilogram weight category and Meerim Zhumanazarova claiming fifth place in the 68-kilogram category.
At the 2024 Olympics, Aiperi Medet kyzy competed in the 76kg freestyle wrestling tournament, finishing in fifth place. Despite reaching the semi-finals and defeating opponents like Ritika from India, she faced tough competition in Kennedy Blades from the USA, ultimately missing out on a medal.
