
Kyrgyzstan’s Banks Record Eight Million Account Openings

Bank Customer Accounts in Kyrgyzstan Surpasses 8 Million
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the number of bank customer accounts in the country has reached over 8 million. The banking system is comprised of the National Bank and 23 commercial banks, with 14 of them operating with foreign capital. Their branches are spread across the republic, with 326 of their branches operating in the regions. The banking sector also employs around 18,500 people.
In 2022, the banking sector’s income reached almost 93 billion soms, which is a 1.7 times increase compared to the previous year. However, its expenses also increased by 1.6 times, amounting to 57.8 billion soms. The banking sector’s total assets for the year 2022 amounted to 877.2 billion soms, which increased by 30.4 percent from the previous year.
The growth in the banking sector reflects the country’s economic development and shows a positive trend towards financial stability.
