Bishkek – 17:50, 08 August 2024: Freestyle wrestler from Kyrgyzstan, Bekzat Almaz uulu, gave it his all at the Olympics in Paris, but unfortunately lost in the quarterfinals. According to the Olympic Games website, in the weight category up to 57 kilograms, Almaz uulu was defeated by Spencer Richard Lee from the United States with a score of 2:12.

Prior to the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyzstani athlete had a strong performance, defeating Meirambek Kartbay from Kazakhstan with a score of 4:1 in the fist fight. Despite this loss, there is still hope for Almaz uulu to compete for a bronze medal in the consolation tournament, should Lee reach the final.

In other wrestling events, Kyrgyz athletes Akzhol Makhmudov and Uzur Dzhuzupbekov secured bronze medals in the Greco-Roman category. Zholaman Sharshenbekov also claimed a bronze medal, while Meerim Zhumanazarova brought home a silver medal for Kyrgyzstan.
