Kyrgyzstan’s Butter Exports Plummet by 3.5 Times

Exports of Butter from Kyrgyzstan Decrease Significantly in First Quarter of 2024

According to the National Statistical Committee, the exports of butter from Kyrgyzstan have experienced a significant decrease in the first quarter of 2024.

In the first three months of 2023, Kyrgyzstan exported 986.1 tons of butter, generating 410,146.3 million soms. However, this year, the export volume plummeted to only 275.2 tons, bringing in 103,012.5 million soms. This marks a staggering decrease of 710.9 tons.

The main reason behind this decline in exports is the cessation of supplies to Russia, which accounted for 880 tons of butter exports last year. Currently, Kyrgyzstan is only exporting this product to Kazakhstan (256.2 tons) and small amounts to Uzbekistan (19 tons).

This shift in export destinations has had a significant impact on the overall export numbers for butter from Kyrgyzstan. It remains to be seen how the country will adapt its export strategies to face these new challenges in the coming months.
