Kyrgyzstan’s Gold Exports Reach 2.11 Tons in First Quarter of 2021
In the first quarter of 2024, Kyrgyzstan’s gold exports reached 2.11 tons, totaling $139.3 million in revenue. This information was reported by the Russian “Bulletin of the Gold Producer,” citing data from the National Statistical Committee.
Out of the total gold exports, about 467 kilograms were sold in March alone. The majority of the gold was exported to Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, amounting to 1,126 tons valued at $75 million. Switzerland followed closely behind, purchasing 971.5 kilograms of gold worth $63.5 million. The United Arab Emirates ranked third, buying 12.5 kilograms of gold for $811,000.
This represents a significant increase in gold exports compared to the previous year. In 2023, Kyrgyzstan exported over 20.2 tons of gold, generating $1.28 billion in revenue. It is worth noting that there were no exports of the precious metal in the first two months of that year.
These figures highlight the importance of gold exports for Kyrgyzstan’s economy and its growing presence in the global gold market. The country’s continued success in this sector bodes well for its economic development and international trade relations.
