Inventions in Kyrgyzstan Reach World-Class Level
The quality of inventions in Kyrgyzstan has reached a world-class level, according to Artyk Bazarkulov, the head of the Department of Examination and Industrial Designs of the State Agency of Intellectual Property and Innovation. In a recent interview on Birinchi Radio, Bazarkulov highlighted the increasing inventive activity in the country, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, medicine, chemistry, biology, and biotechnology.
With the implementation of the new patent law, the process for applicants has been simplified. Individuals, universities, the Academy of Sciences, companies, and other entities are now able to apply for patents. Bazarkulov also emphasized that inventions developed using the resources of an institute or enterprise are considered service inventions.
Ryskul Kasymbekov, the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, shared insights on the importance of studying market needs and production challenges when developing innovative technologies. Kasymbekov, who is known for his unique drip irrigation technology, mentioned the significance of analyzing potential benefits and commercial viability before pursuing a project.
On April 17, 2025, an international conference titled “Activation and stimulation of inventive, innovative activity in the Kyrgyz Republic” will take place in Bishkek. The event will feature representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Eurasian Patent Office, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, and other government agencies and experts. An exhibition showcasing innovative projects and technologies will also be held as part of the conference.
Overall, the growing inventive activity in Kyrgyzstan reflects the country’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement across various industries.
