Kyrgyzstan’s Investment Inflow Decreases by Third

Investment Inflow into Kyrgyzstan Decreases by 31.6 Percent in 2023
According to the Deputy Director of the National Agency for Investments, Zhibek Abdullaeva, the inflow of investments into Kyrgyzstan decreased by 31.6 percent from January to September 2023 compared to the same period last year. During the nine months of 2023, the influx of foreign direct investment into the Kyrgyz Republic amounted to $654,621.9 million, marking a significant decrease from the $958 million recorded in 2022. This means that there was a decrease of $303.4 million compared to the same period last year.
The decrease in investment inflow is concerning for Kyrgyzstan, as the president has been emphasizing the need to attract money to the country. In a recent post on Facebook, the president called on Kyrgyzstanis not to deceive foreign investors, highlighting the country’s efforts to promote transparency and openness to foreign investment.
The decline in investment inflow raises questions about the attractiveness of Kyrgyzstan for foreign investors and the impact of economic and political factors on the investment climate. As the year comes to a close, it will be important for the government to assess the reasons behind the decrease in investment and take steps to restore confidence and attract more investment in the coming year.
