Kyrgyzstan’s MFA advises against traveling to Russia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Comments on Alleged Mass Denial of Entry into Russia
Recent reports in the media have claimed that there has been a mass denial of entry into Russia for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has stated that as of May 2, there have been no signals received by the diplomatic mission and consular offices in Russia regarding such cases.
The ministry is closely monitoring the situation in Russia and the impact it may have on the legal status of Kyrgyzstanis. In light of this, the ministry is advising citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic to temporarily refrain from traveling to Russia unless absolutely necessary, until the additional security measures and enhanced border control regime are lifted. It is also recommended to check in advance for any entry restrictions that may be in place.
In the event of unforeseen circumstances or urgent questions, citizens of Kyrgyzstan are advised to contact the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia or the Consular Department of the ministry at the provided hotline numbers.
Human rights activist Valentina Chupik, who advocates for migrants from Central Asia, has reported that citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, along with individuals from Tajikistan, have been denied entry into Russia in recent days. This denial of entry has extended not only to airports but also ground checkpoints.
The situation is still developing, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan continues to closely monitor the events to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
